IRS Scam Alert 
Holland Township residents are currently being targeted by scammers claiming to be from the IRS. Victims are told that they owe money to the IRS and must pay immediately. The scammer may even threaten to have someone come to your house to arrest you.
The scammers attempt to use fear and will attempt to bully you into paying money to them through Western Union and GreenDot cards. Please do not send them money. If you receive one of these scam phone calls, hang up.
The IRS will not:
- Call you to demand immediate payment. The IRS will not call you if you owe taxes without first sending you a bill in the mail.
- Demand that you pay your taxes a certain way.
- Ask for your credit card or debit card numbers over the phone
- Threaten to bring in police or other agencies to arrest you for not paying.
