Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one car crash that occurred at approximately 7:51 A.M. on Thursday, February 04, 2016 on Vickeryville Road near Snows Lake Road in Bushnell Township. The crash resulted in the injured driver being flown to Spectrum in Grand Rapids.

The investigation revealed that Andrew Emelander, an 18 year old man from Fenwick, was headed north on Vickeryville Road in his 2003 Ford Taurus when he lost control on icy roads, left the road to the right, and struck a tree. Emelander was taken to Sheridan Hospital and later flown via Aeromed to Grand Rapids.

Emelander’s 16 year old brother was a passenger in the vehicle and was not injured during the crash.

Both occupants were wearing their seat belts however the airbags did not deploy. There are no known other factors that contributed to the crash.

Members of the Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services and Sheridan Fire Department assisted at the scene.
