2/4/16, press release: Stolen Vehicle/Attempting to Elude/Leaving the Scene of an Accident/Resisting Arrest
A vehicle was stolen from behind the Maltex building on Pine Street shortly before 9 PM. The stolen vehicle is observed on video colliding with BPD HQ (Battery Park side) causing structural damage. The stolen vehicle was then observed by LT Glynn traveling north on North Avenue at a high rate of speed, striking curbs and driving on the green belt. The stolen vehicle then collided with 2 parked cars on North Avenue just north of the police station, totaling both vehicles and causing significant damage to the stolen car. After striking the parked vehicles a pursuit begins after the stolen vehicle passes BPD southbound on North Avenue. The pursuit continued onto Monroe Street with the operator of the stolen vehicle refusing to yield to police with lights and siren. Over a course of just one minute, the pursuit goes south on George Street and east on Pearl Street. One vehicle is damaged by flying debris from the damaged stolen vehicle at Pearl St/So Winooski Ave. The pursuit terminated after the stolen vehicle collided with the rear of a personally owned vehicle being used for Domino’s delivery, on Pearl Street at So Williams St in front of Taft School. The operator of the stolen vehicle is non-compliant to verbal commands for over five minutes and is then taken into custody. The suspect was treated at UVM medical center ER and released into police custody and later lodged at CCCC.
