On February 8, 2016 at approximately 2:15 AM, Pleasanton Police responded to an auto burglary in progress in the 200 block of Junipero Drive. The alert victim reported four Hispanic males were actively burglarizing a truck parked on the street. Officers arrived within minutes but the suspects fled in a silver sedan. A check of the area revealed at least two vehicles had been burglarized.
At 2:57 AM, another alert resident on Medallion Court reported a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood. The vehicle matched the description of the vehicle involved in the previous burglaries. Officers responded and established a perimeter. When two officers spotted the suspect vehicle, it fled from officers southbound on Regency Drive. The pursuit continued onto northbound Lylewood Drive. The vehicle struck a curb causing it to become disabled. The driver and two passengers were taken into custody but the fourth suspect fled on foot through a nearby park. An extensive area search was conducted but the fourth suspect was not initially located.
The property stolen from the earlier burglaries was located in the suspect vehicle. Also located was property believed to be stolen from other burglaries that have yet to be reported.
At 6:55 AM, a third citizen called to report a suspicious person walking in the area where the outstanding suspect was last seen. Officers again responded and spotted the suspect. A foot pursuit ensued and the suspect was taken into custody.
Arrested on charges of Burglary, Evading a Police Officer, Conspiracy and Possession of Burglary Tools were Carlos A. Marcelo (23), Freddy Reyes (20) and two juveniles. All four suspects are from San Jose.
