Police Chase on I-65 Ends With Arrest of North Vernon Man
Jackson County-Yesterday, at approximately 7:00 PM, officers from three police departments were involved in a pursuit of a vehicle driven by a North Vernon man on I-65 northbound in Jackson County which led to his arrest on numerous charges.
The incident that led to the arrest of Joseph Creech, age 37, North Vernon, began when the Indiana State Police received a report of a red Dodge pickup truck driving recklessly northbound on I-65 near the 30 mile marker in Scott County. Crothersville Police Officer Matt Browning soon observed the vehicle traveling northbound near the 41 mile marker in Jackson County and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle being driven by Creech. Creech failed to stop for Officer Browning. Trp. Robert Hutson soon joined the pursuit of the vehicle. Officers with the Seymour Police Department placed “Stop Sticks” on I-65 near the 49 mile marker. The “Stop Sticks” disabled Creech’s vehicle near the Seymour exit.
After Creech’s vehicle came to a stop, Creech was taken into custody by Trp. Hutson without incident. Creech was then found to be in possession of methamphetamine and a legend drug. Creech was transported to the Jackson County Jail where he faces charges of resisting law enforcement, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of a legend drug.
Due to Creech not being cooperative, a mug photo is not available at this time.
Trp. Hutson was assisted by the Crothersville Police Department, Seymour Police Department, and other troopers with the Indiana State Police.
