Attention Rutgers Community:
The New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) is investigating an attempted robbery, which was reported to have occurred on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at approximately 9:40 PM near the intersection of Nielsen Street and Morris Street.
In this incident the victim, who is affiliated with Rutgers University, reported that he was walking on Nielsen Street when he was approached by a male who assaulted him with a sharp object. The victim fell to the ground and the perpetrator then checked his pockets for items of value. The perpetrator fled towards Tabernacle Street after failing to take anything of value from the victim. The victim sustained superficial injuries from this incident and sought treatment at a local area hospital.

The New Brunswick Police Department is actively investigating this incident and asks that anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time, contact the New Brunswick Police Department Detective Bureau at 732-745-5217.
