Columbus Man Arrested for Intent to Manufacture Methamphetamine
Columbus-On Monday February 8th, at approximately 5:10 PM, the Indiana State Police arrested Errick M. Rutherford, age 29, Columbus on a charge of possession of methamphetamine precursors with intent to manufacture.
The investigation by Trooper Robert Hutson began when he stopped Rutherford, who was operating a bicycle at Pence Calla and State Streets in Columbus. While speaking with Rutherford, Trp. Hutson became suspicious of criminal activity taking place. Trp. Hutson was then given permission from Rutherford to search the backpack he was carrying. Trp. Hutson located items associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine in Rutherford’s backpack.
Rutherford was arrested on possession of methamphetamine precursors with intent to manufacture, level 6 felony. Rutherford was then transported to the Bartholomew County Jail. Master Trooper Martin Mead, Indiana State Police Methamphetamine Suppression Team, responded to the scene to dispose of the items located. Rutherford will soon make an initial court appearance in the Bartholomew County Circuit Court.
