Advisory

Freezing Temperatures on Sullivan's Island Saturday night. Take precautions NOW to keep your lines from Freezing.

The National Weather Service is forecasting freezing temperatures on the Island for Saturday Night February 13, 2016. Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing on Sullivan's Island early Saturday night and remain through mid morning Sunday.

Please take precautions NOW to protect any exposed water pipes from the freezing temperatures. When temps are foretasted to be below 32 degrees for more than four hours, SIWS recommends letting a couple cold water faucets run slightly. A stream about the size of a pencil tip. If your hot water heating source is located outside or in a non-heated area then let a hot water faucet run as well. Keeping water moving inside exposed pipes will help prevent the water lines from freezing. If you are away from your home then have a friend or neighbor shut off your water at the customer shut of valve. Located next to your water meter to prevent a busted pipe from causing damage. Stay tuned to local weather.
