Wear Your Seatbelt, Get A Sandwich?

Carmel – We know that National Highway Traffic Safety Administration statistics prove that wearing your seatbelt reduces your risk of injury by 50% in a crash. But can wearing your seatbelt also earn you a free breakfast? It did today, as the Chic- fil- A restaurant, located at 14647 Thatcher Lane in Carmel, partnered with the Indiana State Police to give everyone a coupon for a free breakfast sandwich for wearing their seatbelt.

Between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. today, Trooper Scott Keegan was posted outside the drive through window, not to issue tickets, but to “issue” free sandwich coupons to everyone who drove through wearing their seat belts.

Keegan said of the promotion “It was great to partner up with Chic-fil-A to reward drivers and parents for doing the right thing, wearing seatbelts and using child restraint seats.” The program was the idea of Chic-fil-A Director of Outside Sales and Community Partnerships, Grerayle Walton.

Mr. Walton said “The men and women of ISP have always been a huge part of our community partnerships, not only in Westfield, but also during my time as Marketing Director in Muncie. During a time when our police officers are so often the target of negativity, it’s great to get them out there in the spot light with the positive recognition they deserve."

Walton went on to say “We also believe in the importance of seatbelts and the lives that they save. We were happy to partner with ISP for this surprise, and we plan to do so again sometime next month, during their “Operation Pull Over” campaign”

So if you’re in a Chic-fil-A drive through in central Indiana next month, don’t be surprised if a trooper approaches your car. He’s probably just there to say “Good Morning,” and to give you a free breakfast for doing the right thing, wearing your safety belt!
