2/16/16, press release - Motor Vehicle Accident Involving Pedestrian

On February 16, 2016 at approximately 1804 hours, members of the Burlington Police Department were dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian and a “school bus.” Early indicators from the investigation are that it was a low speed accident.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Riverside Ave and N. Prospect St. in Burlington. The pedestrians were identified as Nicole Russin 33 of Burlington and a 6 year old female child. Both Russin and the child sustained minor injuries and were transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center for precautionary measures.

The operator of the bus was identified as Peter Daigle of Shelburne, VT. Daigle was operating a bus for Student Transportation of Vermont. The bus had five additional college age students on board, none of which were injured.

This accident is currently under investigation to determine the cause.
