Full Notification

The police department has received at least seven calls today and many more in the past few days from residents who received calls telling them there was a warrant out for their arrest for failure to file tax returns or some similar reason. The caller identifies himself as being from the IRS.
Residents are receiving calls on both their land line phones and cell phones.
The calls originate from different phone numbers; the most common being (206) 488-7842, (202) 817-7546, (251) 273-1087, (415) 800-1911.
These calls are a complete scam!
The callers are targeting older residents, many of whom become upset due to the nature of the call.
Telling the caller you aware the call is a scam and that you are reporting it to the police seems work in preventing additional calls.
