Trooper Arrests Two for Felony Operating While Intoxicated

New Castle – Pendleton District Trooper Ray Otter had a busy night last night, as two separate incidents he investigated led to the arrest of two men on felony charges of Operating While Intoxicated. The first incident occurred just before 7 p.m. last night, after Otter responded to a crash on SR3 northbound at County Road 300 South.

Investigation at the scene revealed a red Jeep, driven by a Brian Gosser, age 32 of New Castle, had run into the back of a 2002 Chevrolet car that was stopped at the light on SR3 NB at CR 300 S. The driver of the Chevrolet car, Larry Miers, age 51 of New Castle, was uninjured. An 11 year old female passenger in Gosser’s Jeep, was transported to Henry County Hospital for minor injuries, where she was treated and released to family members.

Further investigation at the scene led to Gosser being arrested for Operating While Intoxicated, with a Passenger less than 18 Years of age, Level 6 Felony, and Operating While Intoxicated with Endangerment, Class “A” Misdemeanor. He was lodged in the Henry County Jail.

Trooper Otter’s second arrest occurred around 10 p.m., after overhearing a Henry County dispatch of a possible impaired driver that was north bound on SR3 in New Castle. He caught up to the gray Dodge truck and observed it driving erratically on north bound SR3 at CR 100 N.

Otter stopped the truck and made contact with the driver, Michael Pollitt, age 52 of Spiceland, IN. After further investigation, Otter arrested Pollitt for Operating While Intoxicated, with a prior conviction within 5 years, Level 6 Felony, and Operating while Intoxicated with Endangerment, Class “A” Misdemeanor.

Pollitt, who tested twice the legal limit of .08% B.A.C., was lodged in the Henry County Jail. Motorists are encouraged to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911. Give a vehicle description, location, and direction of travel. Never follow an impaired driver.
