On 02/19/2016 just before 12:30 am, Steuben County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 4300 block of west US 20 regarding a reported sexual assault that had just occurred. The female victim contacted Steuben County 911 reporting that she had allegedly just been sexually assaulted at knife point. Once Sheriff’s deputies arrived in the area, they were able to quickly identify and apprehend a male suspect identified as 41 year old Chad M. Farrell of rural Angola. Sheriff’s detectives were then called to the scene to assist with the investigation. After further investigative efforts that included interviews and the execution of a search warrant, Farrell was booked into the Steuben County Jail on one count of rape with a deadly weapon, a level 1 felony and one count of criminal confinement with a deadly weapon, a level 3 felony. Farrell remains held without bond pending an initial court appearance. The incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office. Assisting the Sheriff’s Office were Indiana State Police and Angola Police.
