Advisory

What do you do with computer pop-ups? SCAM ALERT

Public Service Announcement reference computer scams.

Are you getting requests to "click here" because of a computer threat?

Does the message want you to call a number for service?

Does it say your computer is damaged or data is corrupt?

Don't believe it and don't fall for this.

Here are a few tips:
Stop, take a breath and don't panic.
If you know someone familiar with computers, call them, ask for help.
Find an alternative means to search the internet and look up... "virus pop-up scam".
If none of these options are available to you, contact a local computer business for advice.

It is important to protect your personal information. Be skeptical of unsolicited requests for your money.

If you feel like you have been a victim of a SCAM and have sustained a personal loss, such as loss of money or financial information, call the Windsor Heights Police at 515-286-3632 or your local law enforcement.
