Kendallville Man Killed in Two Vehicle Crash in DeKalb County
(DeKalb County, IN)-The Indiana State Police is investigating a two vehicle crash which occurred on US 6 just west of Corunna earlier this morning and claimed the life of man from Kendallville.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper David Poe indicated at approximately 8:45 a.m., a 2006 Toyota pickup truck driven by 40 year old Von A. Hudson of Kendallville, was traveling westbound on US 6, east of County Road 3.
For an unknown reason, Hudson’s vehicle traveled left of center and struck an eastbound 2012 Volvo semi-tractor pulling a refrigerated trailer driven by 34 year old Dillon T. Hall of Hurst, Texas. Hudson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the DeKalb County Coroner’s Office. Hall, who was wearing his seatbelt, was not injured.
US 6 was closed for approximately four and a half hours while crews conducted their investigation and worked to clear the roadway of the vehicles and debris. The refrigerated load of beef carried inside of the trailer was not compromised and was deemed safe following an inspection by the DeKalb County Health Department.
Poe was assisted at the scene by the Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, the DeKalb County Sheriff Department, Corunna Fire Department, Indiana Department of Transportation, DeKalb County Emergency Management, DeKalb County Coroner’s Office, DeKalb County Health Department and Bills Towing.
