2/22/2016 WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FOR MUCH OF NORTHERN INDIANA INCLUDING MARSHALL COUNTY
The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Wednesday morning through Thursday Afternoon.
• Hazards: Rain changing to snow from west to east on Wednesday. Snow may be heavy at times Wednesday afternoon-Wednesday night before beginning to taper Thursday. Storm total snowfall accumulations of 4 to 8 inches possible across winter storm watch area north of US Route 24 (see attachment), with lesser 2 to 5 inch accumulations outside of the winter storm watch.
• Other Hazards: Gusty north to northwest winds to 40 mph resulting in blowing and drifting snow/reduced visibility Wed night-Thu.
• Impacts: Hazardous travel conditions are possible Wednesday and Thursday. The Wednesday evening and Thursday Morning commutes may be the most significantly impacted. Roads will become snow covered and slick.
Heavy snow and strong winds may cause some tree and power line damage, which could lead to power outages.
