City of Woodway crews will be working in the medians of Highway 84 east of Estates Drive for the next month. Observe warning signs. Yesterday we had several vehicles loose control and wreck out in the areas they are working in. Had the workers been present, this could have been a tragic scene. Please observe all warning signs and drop your speed 20 mph as required by law or move over to the opposite lane of traffic.

According to Transportation Code 545.157, drivers must
(1) vacate the lane closest to the emergency vehicle when driving on a highway with two or more lanes traveling in the direction of the emergency vehicle; or
(2) slow to a speed not to exceed:
(A) 20 miles per hour less than the posted speed limit when the posted speed limit is 25 miles per hour or more; or
(B) five miles per hour when the posted speed limit is less than 25 miles per hour.
