The Steuben County Commissioners in cooperation with Steuben County Highway, the Sheriff and Emergency Management have declared a travel advisory status for all of Steuben County Effective immediately. A Travel Advisory, the lowest level of local travel advisory, means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation, and individuals should use caution or avoid those areas.

Weather patterns and forecasts indicate snow fall continuing throughout the evening and night and possibly well into Thursday morning. Snow at this time is very wet and heavy creating a slushy mix that can cause vehicles to lose control. Please allow plenty of travel time should you need to travel. We are also asking that you please be certain to operate in daytime hours with your headlights activated so that drivers can not only see you from the front but also from behind with illuminated taillights. Some daylight driving lights will not activate tail lights.

Conditions will continue to be monitored and updates put out should conditions deteriorate.
