Woodway PSD has responded to three separate attempted thefts in the past 24 hours related to a warrant round-up service scam. The calls are coming from 254-203-3112 and the caller claims to be a deputy with the McLennan County Sheriff's Office. They also claim to be calling on behalf of Sheriff Parnell McNamara. We have verified that this individual is not with the Sheriff's office. This is someone impersonating an officer trying to scam citizens for money. If you receive a call about paying up front instead of going to jail, contact the agency the person is reporting to be from to verify. They are generally asking for pre-paid cards for payment. Please do not become a victim of this scam.
