**Update** Advisory: Gas Line Break on Winchester near Highway 85
Both northbound lanes of Winchester are open. One southbound lane is open as well. PG&E is still on scene and expected to work through the early morning hours.
This is to update you on a developing event that occurred on Winchester this afternoon. A communications contractor working under an encroachment permit using directional boring to install conduits hit a PG&E 4” (fairly large) gas line on Winchester just north of Highway 85. The line appears to have been marked through the Underground Service Alert (USA) program. County Fire and PD are on site and PPW is supporting the shutdown of Winchester southbound at Knowles in the area. PG&E has crews on site as well and is bringing in more crews to support the work. Gas is currently still flowing and PG&E will need several hours to stop the flow of gas. The leak and repairs will cause significant asphalt damage. Traffic is currently impacted significantly and will be for some time, including into the evening commute. No evacuations have occurred and no injuries are reported.
