On Friday February 26, 2016 at 9:29 PM emergency responders were dispatched to Hafele Riverfront Park after Central Dispatch received a 911 call in reference to someone being injured after falling from a moving vehicle.
Upon arrival emergency responders found the victim, 17 year old Elijah Meunier of Cannelton had suffered serious injuries. Meunier was treated by Perry County Emergency Medical Services and transported to Perry County Memorial Hospital. Meunier was later transferred to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville where he died Saturday morning from his injuries.
The driver, 17 year old David James of Gatchel was taken to Perry County Memorial Hospital by family members where he was treated and released.
Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the accident.
