Muncie Man Arrested on Felony Drug Charge
Muncie – A traffic stop in Muncie last evening led to a felony drug charge for a Muncie man. Last night about 11 p.m. Trooper Sam Cook was south bound on Walnut Street, in Muncie, when he got behind a red 2000 Chevrolet Blazer. The Blazer made a turn onto west bound 14th St. without using a turn signal, and Trooper Cook stopped the vehicle.
After making contact with the driver, Lester Sherwin, age 33 of Muncie, Cook found that Sherwin was driving on a suspended license. After further investigation it was found that Sherwin was in Possession of Marijuana, and pills believed to be Oxycodone, without a prescription.
Sherwin was lodged in the Delaware County Jail and charged with Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic Drug, Level 6 Felony, and Misdemeanor charges of Possession of Marijuana and Driving While Suspended, with a Prior Conviction.
Trooper Cook was assisted at the scene by Pendleton District Sergeant Dave Clayton and Trooper John Clawson. Anyone with any information about illegal drug activity may call the Indiana State Police Drug Tip Line at 1-800-453-4756. Tips can be made and kept anonymous.
