Martinsville (Morgan County) Thursday afternoon, just after 4pm, members of the Indiana State Police Bloomington District A.C.E.S. (Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Section) were conducting a criminal patrol on State Road 37 north of Martinsville. Trp. Chris Griggs conducted a traffic stop along SR 37, near Henderson Ford Road, on a 1997 Mazda with Illinois registration for traveling 79mph in a 60mph zone.
During the traffic stop, Trooper Griggs noticed criminal indicators and smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During the course of the traffic stop, troopers located marijuana in the vehicle. In addition, a male passenger (Stephen L. Vaughn) allegedly attempted to destroy other illegal narcotics and refused to exit the vehicle.

Stephen L. Vaughn, 26 of Chicago was arrested for Obstruction of Justice (Level 6 Felony), Resisting Law Enforcement (A Misdemeanor), Possession of Marijuana (B Misdemeanor), and Visiting a Common Nuisance (B Misdemeanor).

Tiffany J. Witt, 22 from McHenry, Illinois was arrested for Maintaining a Common Nuisance (Level 6 Felony) and Possession of Marijuana (B Misdemeanor)
Both subjects were incarcerated in the Morgan County Jail.
Assisting at the scene were officers from Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, Martinsville Police Department, Brooklyn Police Department, and Morgan County EMS. Also assisting were Troopers Steve Jordan, Bill Lux, Riley Nungester and Sgt. Doug Hutchinson.
