Semi Crashes into House

Wayne – This morning around 9:45 a.m. troopers responded to a report of a semi into a house on US 35, just north of Economy, in Wayne County. Troopers arrived to find the semi, which was hauling rolls of paper, on its side in the front yard of the residence at 12581 N. US 35, just north of Jacksonburg Rd.

The preliminary investigation by Trooper Eric Fields is that the north bound semi, a 2016 Volvo driven by Makhmud Amanov, age 27 of Corona, NY, was north bound at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the truck in a curve, running off the right side of the road, then over correcting to the left, flipping the truck onto its side and dumping its load.

As the truck rolled over and across the highway, the front of the cab separated and crashed into the house. Although a mother and child were home at the time, there were no injuries. Amanov, who showed no signs of injuries, was transported to Reid Health in Richmond to be checked out.

Preliminary charges against Amanov are tickets for Driving Too Fast to Avoid Collision, and Passing in Violation of Signs and Markings, as witnesses at the scene said Amanov had passed two vehicles in a no passing zone just prior to crashing.

Amanov was also issued tickets for four Federal D.O.T. violations by Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Trooper Brandon Steffee, including driving over his allowed time and other log book violations. The truck, registered to Interland INC. of La Grange, IL, was a total loss. US 35 is expected to be closed for hours as crews work to remove the debris and rolls of paper.

All Suspects Are Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty in a Court of Law
