The Annual Lakewood Run will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2016. The race events include a 5K or 10K run, a 5K walk, as well as a one-mile Family Fun Run. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. at Lakewood Center, just north of the Pacific Theaters. The 5k and 10k runs start at 8:00 a.m. and the Fun Run begins at 9:30 a.m. The event features an expo, awards, refreshments, and t-shirts, as well as a special visit by Ronald McDonald. Proceeds will benefit the Lakewood Sheriff’s Employee Fund, as well as programs for women and girls through Soroptimist International of Lakewood/Long Beach.
We encourage everyone to come out for a great time. The professionally timed course winds through the streets of Lakewood!
Sheriff’s officials warn motorists passing through the area of expected traffic delays between the hours of 7:30 and 10:30 am, due to periodic street and lane closures associated with the race. Affected streets include Clark Avenue, Candlewood Street, South Street, Palo Verde Avenue, Woodruff Avenue, Harvey Way, and Del Amo Boulevard in central Lakewood. Those living in neighborhoods inside the race course perimeter may also experience delays in merging onto or crossing these major thoroughfares.
