Bloomington District Friday Night A.C.E.S. Patrols on I-69 Result in Several Arrests
Monroe County – This past Friday night, the Indiana State Police Bloomington District A.C.E.S. (Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Section) participated in the “6 State Trooper Project”, a multi-state effort focused on detecting drug use and possession in the motoring public. A.C.E.S. Troopers conducting their patrol on I-69 in Monroe County included Sgt. Greg Day, Trp. Chris Griggs, Trp. Riley Nungester, and Trp. Allen Deel along with his K-9 partner, Drogos.
During the course of the 5 hour patrol, the Troopers generated 27 total traffic contacts including several speeding violations, open alcoholic beverage containers, and following too closely violations. In addition, the Troopers generated 13 total criminal arrests, all of which were drug related offenses.
The following are the traffic stops that resulted in criminal arrests:
Just after 6pm, Trp. Griggs conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 Dodge passenger car for speeding. During the course of the traffic stop, Trp. Griggs detected criminal indicators while Trp. Deel responded with his K-9 partner. After Drogos gave a positive indication of narcotics in the vehicle, a subsequent search of the vehicle ensued resulting in the recovery of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Arrested:
- Christy L. Hayden (08-30-1975) of Evansville for Possession of Marijuana (B Misdemeanor) and Possession of Paraphernalia (B Misdemeanor)
- Davinna Stewart (03-22-1977) of Evansville for Possession of Marijuana (B Misdemeanor) and Possession of Paraphernalia (B Misdemeanor)
Just before 9:30pm, Sgt. Greg Day and Trp. Chris Griggs conducted a traffic stop on a 2010 Mazda SUV for travelling 40 mph over the posted speed limit. Troopers again detected indicators of criminal activity. Trp. Deel again responded with his K-9 partner Drogos, who gave a positive alert of narcotics in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of marijuana.
Arrested:
- Jeremy D. Moore (06-11-94) of Evansville for Possession of Marijuana (B Misdemeanor) and Possession of Paraphernalia (B Misdemeanor), as well as being cited for infraction Open Alcoholic Beverage Container.
- Brock A. Newman (04-01-1995) of Evansville for Illegal Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages (C Misdemeanor) and cited for infraction Open Alcoholic Beverage Container.
Just before 10pm, Trp. Chris Griggs and Sgt. Greg Day conducted a traffic stop on a 2007 Ford Focus for throwing a lit cigarette out of the vehicle. Troopers were able to smell the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Once again Trp. Deel responded with his K-9 partner Drogos who gave a positive alert of narcotics in the vehicle. The subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of marijuana and Xanax, which none of the occupants had a prescription.
Arrested:
- Scott L. Rhodes (04-06-1997) of Evansville for Possession of Controlled Substance (A Misdemeanor).
- Seth L. Parmley (01-07-1996) of Evansville for Possession of Marijuana (B Misdemeanor) and Illegal Consumption of Alcoholic Beverage (C Misdemeanor), as well as cited for infraction Open Alcoholic Beverage Container.
At 10:30pm, Trp. Riley Nungester conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 Volkswagen Beetle for 37 mph over the speed limit and failing to yield to a stopped emergency vehicle. Trp. Nungester detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage and the odor burnt marijuana. In addition, he observed drug paraphernalia in plain view.
Arrested:
- Chelsea J. Meeboer (12-12-1996) of Brownsburg for Possession of Marijuana (B Misdemeanor), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (B Misdemeanor), Illegal Consumption of Alcoholic Beverage (C Misdemeanor), and Operating While Intoxicated Under the Age of 21.
The Bloomington District A.C.E.S. are committed to the Indiana State Police “All Crimes Initiative” and will continue to conduct criminal patrols in various parts of the district.
