Two Arrested Following Vehicle Pursuit in Ripley County
Ripley County-This morning, two men were arrested by the Indiana State Police following a lengthy vehicle pursuit in Ripley County, Indiana.
The incident began at 9:11 a.m. when Trooper Joe May attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 1995 Ford Mustang on State Road 350, just west of Milan, Indiana. The driver of the vehicle, Tyler A. Petro, age 22, West Harrison refused to stop the vehicle and fled at a high rate of speed. Petro led troopers and officers from numerous other agencies on chase which covered numerous roads in Ripley County, including State Roads, 129, 48, 101, and 350. The vehicle struck stop sticks and ultimately became disabled on State Road 129 near Prattsburg Road.
At approximately 9:35 a.m., Petro stopped the vehicle at that location. Petro and a male passenger, Samuel J. Thompson, age 20, Sunman, Indiana then fled on foot from the vehicle. Officers soon took both men into custody and transported them to the Ripley County Jail.
Petro faces one count of resisting law enforcement in a vehicle and one count of resisting law enforcement on foot. Thompson faces one count of resisting law enforcement on foot.
Both men will both be given court dates to appear in the Ripley County Courts.

Trp. May was assisted by numerous troopers as well as officers from the Ripley County Sheriff’s Department, Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department, Milan Police Department, Versailles Police Department, and the Batesville Police Department.
