Traffic Stop on I-65 Results in Drug Arrest
Jackson County-Yesterday, at approximately 10:22 a.m., Trooper Randel Miller conducted a traffic stop on I-65 near Seymour which led to the discovery of illegal drugs and resulted in the arrest of an Alabama man.
The investigation began when Trp. Miller conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Mustang that was traveling southbound on I-65 near the 51 mile marker. During the course of the traffic stop, Trp. Miller observed indicators that criminal activity was taking place. Trp. Miller deployed his K-9 Jinx who alerted to the odor of an illegal drug coming from the vehicle.
During a search of the vehicle, Trp. Miller located suspected heroin, marijuana, and controlled substances in the vehicle. Trp. Miller also determined that the front seat passenger of the vehicle, David Earl Berryhill, age 30, Pinson, Alabama was in possession of the illegal drugs located in the vehicle. Trp. Miller arrested Berryhill and transported him to the Jackson County Jail where he will be charged with dealing heroin, possession of heroin, dealing a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana.
Berryhill will be given a bond amount and be given an initial court date to appear in the Jackson County Circuit Court.

Trp. Miller was assisted by other troopers, officers with the Seymour Police Department, and a Federal Fish and Wildlife Officer.
