Two Barstow women are arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after beating a man with a baseball bat and a hammer
DATE/TIME: March 9, 2016, at approximately 10:10 a.m.
INCIDENT: Assault with a Deadly Weapon
LOCATION: 22000 Cannae Road, Barstow
SUSPECT(S): Marylou Trujillo, age 33, Barstow
Karen Loper, age 54, Barstow
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, March 9, 2016, deputies from the Barstow Sheriff's Station responded to the 22000 block of Cannae Road, in the county area of Barstow, following the report of an assault. Through investigation, deputies determined that the suspect, Marylou Trujillo and the victim were in a dating relationship. Trujillo and her mother, Karen Loper, broke the windows to the victim's residence with a baseball bat and hammer. Trujillo and Loper proceeded to enter the victim's residence and began assaulting him. Trujillo hit the victim in the head and back with the baseball bat numerous times. The victim eventually removed the bat from Trujillo and restrained her. Loper proceeded to hit the victim with a hammer.
The victim sustained numerous minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Barstow Fire Department and Desert Ambulance. Trujillo and Loper were arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for P.C. 245(a)(1), Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
