...The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued a FLOOD WARNING in cooperation with the California Department of Water Resources for the following river in California... Navarro River At Navarro affecting Mendocino County Steady rain will result in a rapid and significant rise on the Navarro River will result in flooding today and again on Friday. Additional rainfall accumulation amounts are forecast to range from 2 to 4 inches across the Navarro River Basin for the remainder of today through Friday. * FLOOD WARNING For the Navarro River At Navarro.

* From this afternoon to Saturday morning...or until the warning is cancelled.

* At 8:15 AM Thursday the stage was 9.0 feet.

* Major FLOODING IS FORECAST.

* Flood stage is 23.0 feet.

* This river is expected to rise above flood stage of 23 feet around 6:00 PM this evening. Then forecast to recede to near 20 feet late tonight. Then forecast to rise above flood stage early Friday morning and crest near 37 feet Friday evening. Then forecast to fall below flood stage early Saturday morning. Then forecast to recede to near 15 late Saturday evening and then fluctuate near 15 feet thru late Sunday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 34.0 feet...Significant flooding and damage of houses and property along the river approximately 1 mile east of Highway 1 will occur. Expect complete closure of Highway 128.

* FLOOD HISTORY...This crest compares to a previous crest of 36.9 feet on Jan 26 1983. &&

* AFFECTED AREAS: MENDOCINO
