MDOT has advised they will be taking down the section of bridge that was struck earlier today by a semi truck. The demolition will begin either tonight or tomorrow and take an undetermined amount of time to complete. During this time, NB US 23 at Eight Mile Road will remain closed. Traffic is being diverted at Eight Mile in Whitmore Lake.
Motorist should consider an alternate route during this time.
Eight Mile Road over US23 between Whitmore Lake Road and Main St will be closed indefinably until repairs can be completed onm the bridge. Motorist traveling that section of the road are advised to seek alternate routes.

Due to a traffic accident involving a semi truck striking the bridge on NB US23 and Eight Mile Road. NB US23 is closed until later this afternoon while crews continue to access the extent of damage to the bridge.
Traffic is being routed off Eight Mile Road in the area.
Please plan accordingly and avoid the area and seek an alternate route.
