Three Suspects Arrested For Drugs in White County

On March 10, 2016 at approximately 3:45 p.m. Troopers from the Indiana State Police at the Lafayette Post and the White County Sheriff’s Department went to 6827 East 175 North near Monticello, where three suspects were arrested for several different drug charges stemming from information received from the public.

The information was received anonymously by White County Deputy Brandon McLeland of possible drug activity at the residence. He along with Trooper Tyler Bentlage went to the residence and was greeted by the homeowner Robert J. Collins, 48 years of age. After being let into the residence, further investigation led to the officers obtaining a search warrant. Upon execution of the search warrant, several inactive one pot and HCL generators used to make methamphetamine were located. Also located were precursors and items used in the manufacturing of meth. There were two other adults and one child at the residence.

Three people in the house were arrested for numerous drug charges. Collins was charged with Maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia. Dawn M. Rains, 30 of the same address was charged with maintaining a common nuisance, possession of paraphernalia, manufacturing methamphetamine and taking a child to a common nuisance. John L. Sweeney, 29 of Monticello was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, dumping controlled waste, dealing methamphetamine, dealing in synthetic marijuana, visiting a common nuisance and possession of methamphetamine. All three were booked into the White County Jail. Child Protective Services was contacted and took custody of the child. The investigation is continuing.
