LINDENWOLD, NJ – The Lindenwold Police Department will host its inaugural Junior Police Academy this summer. The academy will run July 25th thru July 29th at the Police Administration Building, 2001 Egg Harbor Road, Lindenwold. The program runs 8:30 am to 3:30 pm each day, Monday through Friday. The academy is open to Lindenwold residents ages 11-14 who have an interest in law enforcement and public service and who are in good standing with their school.
The Junior Police Academy (JPA) is a nationwide program with a 20-year history of emphasizing community responsibility among our young citizens and public servants. The purpose of the Junior Police Academy is to provide young citizens with an Introduction to Law Enforcement. The goal is to motivate young people to be outstanding citizens and empower them to act as a positive influence in our community. It will also transform the traditional role of the police officer into a mentor and a friend, while encouraging our young citizens to be partners in building safer schools and communities. When you bring police officers and kids together, you get better police officers and better kids.
The curriculum of the academy will cover a multitude of topics such as History of Law Enforcement, Gangs, Motor Vehicle Laws, Crime Scene Processing, and Evidence Processing to name of few. The application period will open April 1st and the closing date for accepting applications will be May 1st. The inaugural academy class will be limited to 21 recruits.
