APD Participates In Statewide Shoulder Tap Operation
On Saturday, March 12, 2016, the Anderson Police Department participated in a statewide Minor Decoy Shoulder Tap Operation in cooperation with the California Department of Alcohol Beverage Control.
A minor decoy, between the ages of sixteen and eighteen, was placed in front of various ABC licensed establishments throughout the Anderson area. The decoy approached patrons of the businesses, advised them of his/her true age, and asked the customer if they would purchase an alcoholic beverage for them.
The operation was scheduled to be an all-day event however due to inclement weather it had to be completed earlier than expected.
One person, Kodi Knox, age 21, of Redding, purchased alcohol for the minor decoy. Knox was issued a misdemeanor citation for furnishing alcohol to a minor, and faces a fine of about $3,000.00.
This operation was funded through a grant from the California Alcohol Beverage Control and the California Office of Traffic Safety.
The Anderson Police Department is committed to keeping our community safe and reducing the availability of alcohol to our youth.
