STATE POLICE AND NORTHERN PORTER COUNTY TRAFFIC SAFETY PARTNERSHIP TO CONDUCT SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT IN PORTER COUNTY
Porter County- The Lowell District of the Indiana State Police in conjunction with the Northern Porter County Traffic Safety Partnership will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint during the late evening hours in Porter County on Thursday, March 17, 2016. This checkpoint is in conjunction with the Operation Pull Over Blitz “Aggressive Driving” that began Friday, March 4th and runs through Sunday, March 27th.
Drivers that encounter a check point will be required to produce a valid license and registration. Motorists that are not impaired can expect only short delays of 2-3 minutes while passing through the checkpoint. If all information is correct and there is no other reason to be detained, they will be released. After the check point, troopers will conduct roving saturation patrols, aggressively seeking impaired drivers throughout the district.
Law Enforcement encourages all motorists to call 911, or the closest Indiana State Police Post, or police department when they observe another motorist that may be impaired. Be prepared to give a description of the vehicle, location and direction of travel.
The Indiana State Police and the Northern Porter County Traffic Safety Partnership are committed to traffic safety and will continue to conduct saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints to apprehend impaired drivers and to deter others from drinking and driving.
