Pedestrian Killed on Interstate
Lake Station, Lake County-A North Judson man was killed, yesterday evening, in a single vehicle crash involving a semi and a pedestrian.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Justin Hansen revealed, at approximately 9:42 p.m., yesterday, March 16, 2016, evening, a semi, driven by a 42 year old man from Hammond, Indiana, stated he had hit an unknown object on I-80/94 west bound at the 15.3 mile marker (Ripley Street). Troopers located a white male on the inner shoulder in dark clothing.
The white male was pronounced dead at the scene of massive blunt force trauma by the Lake County Coroner. The deceased was later identified as Nicholas Ryan Webb, 35 of North Judson. FAMILY HAS BEEN NOTIFIED.
The semi-truck was a 2003 Freightliner, owned by Arellano Trucking Incorporated out of Gary, it was loaded with two steel coils.
No disabled vehicle was located in the area that belonged to the deceased and it is not know at this time why Webb was walking on the interstate or where he was going.
The middle, left and inner shoulder were closed for reconstruction of the crash, removal of the deceased and investigation. All lanes have been reopened.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
