Peru Teen Killed in Miami County Crash
Miami County – Last night at approximately 7:23 p.m., officers from the Indiana State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Miami County Road 200 West near Miami County Road 400 South, in which a Peru, IN teen died.
The preliminary crash investigation by Trooper Jeremy Perez revealed that Parker Klein, 18, Peru, IN, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala northbound on County Road 200 West, south of Miami County Road 400 South . The Impala traveled off the east side of the road, Klein overcorrected, causing the car to travel across County Road 200 West and off the west side of the road. The Impala then hit a fence gate and post, causing the car to roll at least once. The Impala came to rest on its tires.
Klein was pronounced dead at the crash scene.
Klein was wearing a seat belt but the crash impact was too severe to prevent his fatal injuries.
The crash is still under investigation, but the preliminary evidence indicates that excessive speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
Trooper Perez was assisted with the crash investigation by Trooper Michael Biggs, Trooper Steven Glass, Trooper Ben Reason, Trooper Jonathon Cole, Trooper Greg Moolenaar, the Peru Fire Department, The Pipe Creek Fire Department, and Dukes Memorial Hospital EMS.
