Lucky to Be Alive!!
Gary, Lake County-A Hobart man was lucky to come away with barely a scratch when a semi tire crashed into his passenger front windshield causing major damage.
Preliminary investigation by Sergeant Dwayne Dillahunty revealed, at approximately 6:16 a.m., this morning, Friday, March 18, 2016, a 2012 Subaru Impreza, driven by Andrew Bruce, 36 of Hobart, was west bound on I-80/94 near the 7.6 mile marker (this is approximately 1 ½ miles east of the Burr Street exit) in the #3 lane (5 lanes of traffic) when he saw what looked like a semi-truck tire bouncing in the west bound lanes.
The semi tire struck his vehicle in the front, concaving the passenger front side of windshield, roof and hood, causing major damage to his Subaru.
Bruce was not medically treated at the scene but may seek medical treatment on his own for possible glass in his eyes when the windshield shattered.
His vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
The semi-tractor never stopped or was located.
