On February 19, 2016, the Santa Ana Police Department released video of a subject wanted in connection with three sexual batteries. Each of the batteries involved a lone female walking during evening hours in Santa Ana. The male suspect engaged the women in conversation before assaulting them.
Based on tips from concerned community members who had seen the news broadcasts, Santa Ana Police Special Crimes Detectives were able to identify Carlos Olivares as the alleged perpetrator. Further corroboration was received on 3/8/16, when the Orange County Crime Lab reported DNA found on the clothing of one of the victims is consistent with that of Olivares.
After his identification, detectives learned Olivares had been living in the 1600 block of Highland Street in Santa Ana. Immediately after the news release, however, Olivares left his residence and did not return. He did not provide a forwarding address and has not been seen by friends or acquaintances.
The Santa Ana Police Department appreciates the assistance provided by the community and members of the media.
A warrant has been issued for Olivares’ arrest. The $500,000 warrant was issued on 03/18/16 for violations of PC 243(e) (1) – Sexual Battery and PC 236 - False Imprisonment.
The Santa Ana Police Department is now asking for the public’s assistance in locating Olivares. Carlos Olivares is described as a male, Hispanic, 31 years old, 5’ 6” tall, 150 pounds, black hair, brown eyes with an scar on his chin. If you see Olivares, please call 911.
