Two Grant County Women Killed in a Two Vehicle Crash Late Last Night in Wabash County
(Wabash County, IN)-The Indiana State Police is investigating a two vehicle crash which occurred on State Road 15, one-half mile north of County Road 900 S late last night and claimed the lives of two women from Grant County.
According to Trooper Michael Biggs, at approximately 10:00 p.m., a 2006 Toyota SUV driven by 27 year old Emily J. Bowyer of Wabash County was traveling northbound on State Road 15 when for an unknown reason, traveled left of center.
Bowyer's vehicle struck a southbound 2015 Lexus SUV head-on. As a result of the crash, the right, rear passenger of the Lexus, 69 year old Barbara J. Dryer was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Lexus, 70 year old Phillip E. Stephenson and the left, rear passenger 67 year old Sharon K. Stephenson were transported to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Mrs. Stephenson died from her injuries early this morning.
Based on evidence located at the scene, it is believed that drugs may have played a factor in this crash, which remains under investigation. Assisting at the scene were the Wabash County Sheriff Department, Wabash County EMS, Noble Township Fire Department, La Fontaine Fire Department and Lutheran Air Ambulance.
