“21 YEAR OLD KILLED IN TRAFFIC COLLISION IN HOLLENBECK AREA”

Los Angeles- On March 23, 2016, at approximately 6:00 a.m., a fatal traffic collision occurred on Alhambra Avenue just east of Druid Street in Hollenbeck Area.  The collision occurred when Jesus Andres Padilla, 21 years old and a resident of Los Angeles, was driving his 1991 Ford Mustang westbound on Alhambra.  He was passing another vehicle in the number one lane and then lost control of his vehicle.  Padilla’s vehicle rotated in a counter clockwise direction and drifted into the path of privately owned garbage truck traveling eastbound on Alhambra Avenue.

Based on evidence at the scene, Padilla was driving at a minimum speed of 50 mph just prior to the collision.  It did not appear that drugs or alcohol was involved and reports of street racing were unsupported. 

The cause of the collision is being investigated by detectives from Central Traffic Division.
