UNREPORTED STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERY AND ARREST
On Thursday, March 24, 2016, at approximately 9:36 PM, an Anderson Police Officer observed a a 2005, white Ford pick up with no front license plate enter the Shasta Outlets, in the 1900 block of SR 273. A Dispatch records check showed that the truck was also in a “paid non operational” status to a construction company in Redding and a traffic stop was conducted. The male driver and sole occupant could provide no driver’s license or identification. He verbally identified himself but had difficulty spelling the name he provided. Dispatch could not locate any contacts or license for the name provided. The driver claimed that a “friend” had loaned him the vehicle. As none of his provided information checked out the driver was detained in handcuffs. After several iterations of the “name game” the driver admitted that he was Justin Creed Arrowsmith, 35 years of Anderson. He was found to have two outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrants for DUI and drug related offences.
APD dispatch contacted a representative of the construction company who stated that the truck was stored at a yard in Tehama County. The company was not not aware it was missing and no one was authorized to be using it. The truck was subsequently reported to Red Bluff CHP as stolen and it was towed and stored by APD. A search of the truck also located a bag belonging to Arrowsmith which contained about 75 vehicle and miscellaneous keys which are often indications of vehicle theft and burglary.
Arrowsmith was booked into Shasta County Jail on his warrants (APD case 16-4375), and additional charges of vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, providing false identy to peace officer, driving on a susended license, possession of burglary tools and probation violation are being forwarded to the Shasta County District Attorney (APD case 16-4376).
