2016 Alaska Shield - Valdez

Active School Shooter Exercise
Gilson Middle School - Saturday, April 2nd, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

City of Valdez and Valdez School District personnel will participate in the 2016 Alaska Shield state-wide exercise to practice and discuss law enforcement capabilities, emergency medical response, and communications in a school active shooter scenario.

EXPECT TO SEE EXERCISE ACTIVITIES IN AND AROUND GILSON MIDDLE SCHOOL ON APRIL 2ND
-Fire trucks, ambulances, and police cars with lights and sirens
-Uniformed law enforcement officers with mock weapons
-Role players with stage makeup simulating injuries
-Shouting, screaming, and loud noises from exercise role players
-Mock rescues of role players from the school by the Fire Department.

For your safety and the safety of exercise participants, please avoid the area.

Valdez Exercise Participants: Valdez City Schools, City of Valdez, Providence Valdez Medical Center, Alaska National Guard, and State of Alaska.
