Accidents Highlight Need for Properly Installing Car Seats
In partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI), Riley Fire Department would like to remind child passenger seat owners of the free child seat inspection stations available in their community.
Proper child seat usage saves lives, and knowing how to install a child seat and when to transition to the next available seat is important. Authorized child seat inspection stations can provide free inspections, valuable information and resources to help keep your child safe.
For the past several years, Riley and Honey Creek Fire Departments have partnered together to protect Hoosier children while traveling on our nation’s busy highways. Both departments have established a child safety seat inspection station that operates during normal business hours. This child safety seat inspection station is staffed by several nationally certified child passenger safety technicians who will inspect your car seats and instruct families on how to properly secure them in their vehicles. Parents and caregivers can call the Riley Fire Department at 812-894-3610 to schedule an appointment to have their car seat installation checked. Also, adults will be provided material and instruction on proper child passenger safety and car seat installation.
