Bay City, Michigan Man Dies in Single Vehicle Crash
Lake Station, Lake County-A Bay City, Michigan man died, early this morning, in a single vehicle crash on the Indiana Toll Road (I-80/90) to I-80/94 east bound ramp.
Preliminary investigation by Master Trooper Brian White revealed, at approximately 5:37 a.m., this Friday, April 01, 2016, morning, a 1991 Chevrolet SUV was on the Indiana Toll Road ramp to east bound I-80/94 when the driver took the curve in the ramp too fast. The driver lost control, went off the roadway to the north (left) and rolled multiple times.
The driver, identified as Zachary R. Pacholke, 21 of Bay City, Michigan, was pronounced dead at the scene by a deputy with the Lake County Coroner’s Office of massive blunt force trauma.
Pacholke was wearing his seat belt but the impact was too severe for the restraint to save Pacholke.
The front seat passenger, Austin T. Oliver, 22 of Bay City, Michigan, was also wearing his seat belt and was taken to North Lake Methodist Hospital in Gary with serious injuries.
Family has been notified.
The ramp was closed for approximately an 1 ½ hours for reconstruction of the crash, removal of the deceased and the vehicle, and transporting of the injured.
