National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week: April 10-16, 2016
The week of April 10-16, 2016 is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
The Santa Barbara Police Department’s Combined Communication Center’s 13 public safety dispatchers receive over 175,000 telephone calls each year for the city's Police and Fire Departments, and dispatch and coordinate the responses of the city's police officers, firefighters, and animal control officers. Last year they handled over 55,000 emergencies and provided emergency medical instructions and information to over 1,500 callers.
