PRESS RELEASE: Warsaw Police Investigating Monday Evening Armed Robbery
The City of Warsaw Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred Monday evening at the Dollar General store, located at 3320 Lake City Highway, on the east side of Warsaw.
On Monday, April 4, 2016 just after 5:30 p.m., central dispatch received a 911 call from Dollar General advising that the store was just robbed at gunpoint, and the suspect fled on foot northbound behind the shopping center. It was reported that the suspect was a white male, approximately 5’5” tall, and was wearing a jean jacket over a black hoody that was pulled up over his head. The suspect was also wearing sunglasses, gloves, and displayed a black handgun. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect.
The initial investigation showed that the suspect approached the checkout and displayed the handgun and stated he wanted all the money from both registers. As the clerk goes to open the second register, the suspect walks behind the counter, pushes past the clerk and empties the cash from the register before fleeing the store. The robber fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Warsaw Police Department tip line at 574-807-9159 or contact the Investigations Division at 574-372-9526.
