Bomb Threat at Renton Jr. High School Information
On April 7, 2016, the Huron Township Police Department responded to Renton Jr. High in regards to a bomb threat that was written on a bathroom wall within the School. The threat was located during the 6th and final hour of the school day. Huron Township School Resource Officer James Poma was on school grounds and immediately began an investigation. Huron Township Command, Detectives, and Patrol Staff responded along with the Huron Township Canine Unit and the Wayne County Sheriff Department Canine Unit.
School Administration immediately placed the school on lockdown. An 8th grade student was identified as the person writing the threat. He has admitted his involvement and he, along with his parents, are fully cooperating with the investigation.
Canines trained in bomb detection did a complete search of the school and did not locate any threat.
Students were released from school at the end of the school day in a normal manner.
