Advisory

NO Burn Permits will be issued in Clay County until further notice. Burning without permit is a Class B Misdemeanor

The Fire Chiefs in all Fire Districts in Clay County have agreed that there will be NO Burn Permits issued in Clay County until further notice. No Burn Permits will be issued until the current dry conditions end and adequate moisture is received to alleviate the danger of outdoor burning.
Clay County Resolution requires all outdoor burning to be permitted by calling the Clay County Sheriff's Office the day of the burn. To burn without a permit or to burn when a permit has been denied is a Class B Misdemeanor subject to fine, jail time and court ordered restitution of response costs.
If you must use equipment outdoors that generates heat or spark please be sure to have adequate water and fire extinguishers close by. Small fires can quickly become out of control in current conditions.
You can follow current fire weather conditions at http://www.weather.gov/top/fire
Please report any small fires or smoke immediately.
Again - NO BURN PERMITS will be issued in Clay County until further notice.
