Hate Crime Investigation Results in Arrest of Two Teens
On April 5th Modesto Police Department detectives initiated a criminal investigation after the discovery of a disturbing video. In the video, a white male juvenile is seen and heard making specific reference to another individual while placing a noose around his neck. A gun is also fired in the video. The initial investigation suggests that students at Central Catholic High School were involved in the incident.
Over the past week, detectives continued to gather evidence, conduct searches and interviews to ensure that the case was investigated carefully and methodically. The investigation led to the identification of two 16-year-old juveniles believed to be associated with the production or distribution of the video.
Detectives have conducted searches at three homes; one in the Patterson area, one east of Modesto near the town of Waterford and the other near La Grange. Evidence has been collected and both juveniles have been arrested. Both were booked at the Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall on charges of making terrorist threats, committing a hate crime, and criminal conspiracy.
